Posts: 149 | I'm going to Kishkutena in late July. It's going to a be a muskie trip for me. Some guys are going to fish mainly for smallmouth. This is a lake I've never been to, but several of these guys have been 10+ times. They know Kish has lake trout, but nobody has caught one. My goal, besides catching muskies, is to be the first one to catch a lake trout. There is a deep bay that is labeled as Trout Bay on the map. It holds the deepest water on the lake (60'). I'm assuming that would be a good place to start. Any lake trout tips? Lures, presentations, etc......

A lot of times just after the ball hits bottom you'll have one on. Speed control is usually pretty slow. 2-2.5MPH that time of year usually is about right but try slower and faster until you figure them out. Trolling spoons are great, lots of guys use Cow Bells and swear by them.

The bottom huggers are generally tougher to get to bite. The suspendos are feeding and ususally hit the jig on the way down before you even get a chance to work the bait. Just use your electronics and move around til find marks and balls of bait up off the bottom. Red/white yellow/white sonars seem to be the best.

Posts: 719 | Probably 30% of Bondy Bait sales go to guys who jig for lakers. Either vertically jigging or slow troll while jigging. Attachments ---------------- TedLaker.jpg (69KB - 115 downloads)

Posts: 357 Location: Duluth, MN | Ahh ya I will give that a shot! I'm also going to be bringing them up to Isle royal this summer. Jiggin lakers up there is phenonminal, but if a guy could target just the pigs with your bait, that would be even better
