| Is there any correct and clean way to shorten the length of the Butt section of cork on a rod and neatly Cap it somehow? I think I need to remove about 4-5 inches...Has anyone done this so the rod doesn't look like you took a hacksaw to it...lol thanks Mike Jr. |

| You can use a hack saw, cut off the length desired. Hardware stores have rubber and plastic caps. Get one a little smaller than the cork and carefully sand down the diameter of the cork so the cap fits -- glue on.

Location: New Hope MN | Never imagined I would read about someone wanting to shorten it...? I'm curious why you would want to do this?
I have had nearly all my rod handles lengthened at Thornes. It was fairly inexpensive. I would start there if they are close to your location. |

| I just shortened it by 4 inches, came out great , new hack saw blade, sandpaper, a sanding block and epoxy and a BAN DEODORANT Cap......Absolute perfect fit....... I shortened it because it kept getting hung up on my clothes after I casted and went to put under my arm...... Many of the longer rods are very close to the same size from the reel seat to the tip. Buy adding a 6" extension or lengthening your Rod 6" you are not making your 8'6" rod 9'. You just extended the length of the rod from the reel seat to the Butt of the rod...... While fishing it is the same size, maybe a help in the Figure 8's..............This is much more comfortable for me and I think thats what its all about what you feel comfortable fishing with all day..........Thanks Mike Jr |
