Posts: 4 | Does anyone have any recommendations for lodges in Canada that are friendly towards solo fisherman? I've been making two trips a year but I can't find anyone who is willing or can make the second trip with me. I'd be renting a boat so good boats would be nice too. I'd be going in the August timeframe.

Posts: 755 | I have done the Solo thing at Witch Bay Camp near Dryden and they are great. Solid fishing up ther too. I also stayed at Ballards Black Island and they were great too but its mostly a walleye camp so you are on your own to pattern fish if you do not use a guide. Of the two for musky fishing I would pick Witch Bay. they both rock for walleye fishing..

Posts: 279 | Give Don Pursch, Nielsen's Fly-In Lodge on Rowan Lake a call. I've been fishing there solo for a number of years & it has worked out great for me. Upgrade boats are also available. http://www.nielsensflyinlodge.com/ Edited by blkdrs 1/16/2014 1:43 PM

Posts: 13 Location: Northwest Chicago suburbs | I generally find myself going up to Canada alone as I struggle to find a partner that can go year after year. I also go twice a year and I second Witch Bay Camp. This will be my 15th straight year going up there and have little reason to go anywhere else. Great staff and accomodations, world class fishing, and terrific food. If it would be of any interest, Bob Mesikhomer is having a Muskie camp in August.....I believe the thid week.

Posts: 291 Location: Madison, WI | I gotta throw my .02 toward Tamarack on LOTW. Been on LOTW for 20 years and stayed at Tamarack for some time. Given that your solo and using a resort boat things like safety and proximately to good fishing should be important to you, they would for me if were by myself. Obviously you aren't going to running 20-40 miles a day. Fishing around camp is very good and the location of the camp with relation to heavy south, west, or NW winds is outstanding and most importantly, you shouldn't have to venture out into anything dangerous or heavy regardless of weather. Camp boats are brand new Lunds and very fish able from what we saw. They pick you up at the landing, take you out in their boat across the big water and your good to go. I have been on other sides of Sabaskong, big waters towards Big Island and everywhere in between there are times that it gets sketchy in an 18 foot boat with a 150. Rates are very reasonable. Wherever you decide to try, make sure location is factored in. Having a safe trip, especially being alone, should be one of your most important factors in deciding. If you are there for a week, you will encounter weather.....be it storms, heavy winds, etc.

Posts: 76 | hey NTN-----I fished Nielsens's solo a year ago in August-----it was AWESOME! Great people----incredible views----- off the hook fishing!!!! It was easy to get to/from and their staff took care of everything. Don and Lynn Pursch run a FIRST CLASS operation. It's definitely somewhere to consider for a solo trip. Good luck---SN

Posts: 4 | Oops I should have worded that better. I have my trip for this year, but looking for suggestions for future reference...and if I can somehow swing a 3rd trip. We've had TLO weeks the last two years at work, so might as well go fishing up north right?
