Hi Guys,

i am a fisherman from Mid-Europe, Austria. Last year we fish on LOTW for Muskies and Walleys and it was a really great trip. This year we will come back to LOTW only for Muskie Fishing.

But in 2015 we will go for the Pike Trip of our Life. Pike Fishing in Austria is great, you can catch really fat pikes, personally i cought pike up to 48inch. We fish 100% Catch and Release. But you can´t catch those numbers that are possible in Canada or Alaska. On a normal day on my lake in Austria you boat a max of 2 or 3 fish a day.

So we are searching for the best pike fishing for our 2015 Trip. The goal is to catch as many 40inch+ Pike possible. The more and the bigger the better! What is the best place for this? (Money doesn´t count)

I do a lot of research and this is what i found:

My favourite Taltson Bay
http://www.taltsonbaypike.com/

Lac La Martre
http://www.nwtfishing.com/

Midnight Sun on Yukon / Innoko River
http://www.mstpa.com/index.html

Dunlops at Waskaiowaka Lake
http://www.dunlopfishing.com/

Lake Wollaston
http://www.wollastonlakelodge.com/

Which is the best choice for Pike Fishing? Where we can catch the most 40inch + Pike in one week? What is the really best pike water?

Thanks in advance for your answers!
Wolfgang

I've fished Midnight Sun in 2006, and the guy I was with, Bob Mehsikomer, caught 50 inch pike. The numbers were astounding. It's a haul to get up there, but well worth it. They love those flies up there, so learn to fly fish. Greg Befus is a class act, and I would love to go back one day. Wollaston is great but too expensive. Lakers unlimited on Athabasca is great too, but Midnight Sun is really an experience without all the amenities of a resort that you will pay an extra $4-5K for.

Utik Lake, northern Manitoba. Forget the group total but my brother did the best with 15 over 43in in a week back in 2001. Big water and only 1 resort on it. Was a lot cheaper then but was bought out and now much fancier and expensive.

You can't beat the MSTPA Alaska fishing on the Innoko River. Deluxe accommodations on a 67' houseboat, and 50, 60, 70 fish days (2 men in a boat).
Excellent guides, great scenery, peace and quiet, and easy fishing with small single, barbless hooks per lure. One group landed 47 fish over 40" in one day in the Spring. I caught my PB, a 50 1/2".

Thank you for your answers. Very interesting - so Midnight Sun would be the best Choice. But i can't find Info about lure fishing, is mstpa only Fly fishing, we both are not the best fly fisherman. And what i can see, every Pike is landed and released by the guides? We Are able and we want to handle the pikes on our own. Is this possible?

I am not fly fisherman so bring your lures! I like large Doctor Spoon! I think there is no rules as fly fishing only!
