Ben Modica paints masterpieces and Tom Lebeau at Big Fork is another great painter.

I would have to say the Baker Baits stick out above the rest, especialy the foil colors.Bluewater Baits would be next on my lidt.

Big Game Lure Co. gets my vote. More practical patterns IMO. I prefer to fish with solid colors or just bold colors as opposed to the detailed jobs for the sake of holding a more visual profile. Although, if I were to pick a pretty bait that I just like to look at, Roger Waters does a great job! Love my HardHeads.

for classic colors with a hint of personal touch my choice go to todd leopardis(leo lure).if you are lucky he will paint some lures but it's not occur frequently
for jaw dropping pattern and unique painting technique i'll go without a doubt with SolarFall

Musky treats have some nice jobs. Same with mulisha gliders (not as readily available yet) Kodiak paints them both

I second this...

I will also add another +1 to the trueglides

Custom and durability = Hosebait's & LML's

Custom paint on production lures = Bare Bones Baits

Production lure paint = Gotta go with Drifter Tackle

Bait makers that stand out = BWB, Bakers, Wiley, Muskietrain, Modivators, Hammers

I've seen a bunch of cool paint jobs over the years, from John Snow to Novak, but I'd say the best I've ever seen were Joe Peterson's Trueglides. I've seen a few of his new baits this winter, and they are unbelievable. If you're going to the MN show, you've gotta check them out.

lots of painters out there, not too many at the level like Joe at Trueglide takes it. Knutson and Furman are getting close. I wish I could have those and others on a table in front of me and really see the fine work in person instead of a projection on a screen.

Thanks Guys.

There are a ton of great painters out there. Don't forget Todd and Phantom! He told me that he paints 5000 lures a year! I can't even image that! In addition to those already mentioned I also like Knooter, Kodiak, Duff , Mark Smith, Anders at Wolfcreek, MB79, etc........

I don't have a chance to post on this site as much as I used to. I am all Ipad these days and I haven't figured out how to upload pics yet. Pretty much everything goes right up on my blog or facebook page.

Here is one though that I just finished

Seriously, open your tackle storage do you see any ugly paint jobs? Todays baits are done in so many man catching colors it's a shame to put them to work! The most amazing one's I own were painted by Stan D. they change colors as they flash. Once I got them to walk a bit they absolutely look like different baits when they come in.

As a painter and builder myself there are only a couple of painters that really amaze me. First is Novak, he has some serious paint skills, better than any other IMHO. Others I find to be really good are John Snow and Joe from Trueglide, excellent painters!

An interesting thread, for certain!

Like many of you, I've come to appreciate Manufacturers which develop their versions of standard color patterns which become our favorites (Slammer, Leopardi & etc. & etc.) Yet, colors and finishes done by the custom "craftsman" have taken those standards well beyond that to an entire other level (HR, Smuttly & Trueglide & etc.) reflected by their prices. Yet, IMHO, they're just lures, made to fish with and if I buy it, it will probably get wet!

God Bless You, Rolf! If you didn't know him as Michelangelo before, he certainly is so now!

I'm surprised I didn't see them mentioned yet: Talonz Lures of Western Michigan. Simply an outstanding array of color patterns!

For me durability wise while still looking great it's phantom and slammer. They take a beating.
