Besides one going deper than the other, when would you fish one over the other and when pulled 1ft with your rod what is the difference in the dive depth and rise?

Also what is your preferred method to tune it? There are so many options than just turning the tail down. Do you move the corners? Do you mess with the eyelet?

OK lots of questions so I'll do what I can to keep it short and sweet. Both weighted to non have their place in my box. Example: I was out fishing with a buddy last season. High skies, bright blue, sun beating down, no wind not a cloud in sight. Tried a few different techniques and was unsuccessful. There was a heavy milfoil patch over by one of my favorite spots. I took out a 10" suick, non weighted and started casting into the thick stuff. The way I looked at it. Sun was up, water was getting hotter by the second, maybe the fish were hiding in some shade? Maybe deep down in the weeds? With the un-weighted, I was able to tick the tops of the weeds just enough, to cause enough ruccus to pull a fish out, and she killed it right off the weed line. and I mean right off of it, like 3 inches off maybe... had I used weighted, I would have caught all weeds and no fish... that being said, I lost that fish. She still hit, but lost her.

Weighted have a longer hang time so the sit in the strike zone longer. As I am sure you know, one of the best triggers using jerkbaits is the 'pause'. weighted versions have a longer pause, thus more available time to strike. (especially) if they are being finicky and need a slower presentation. Non-weighted suicks are good under most normal situations. the one I described above is a perfect example of why lures are more like tools then they are baits. It was a tool that got the job done in a very specific situation. I like using both, but for whatever reason the non weighted versions catch me a lot of pike. I like to use the weighted versions when trying to bang rocks or hard cover, or fishing on a deep break line. Its just one of those things, you can never have to many tools to get the job done right the first time.

Tuning, can be difficult, if you don't get the action you are looking for by tuning the tail, then try tuning the eyelit. Steve Worral (moderator) has an awesome video of how to tune a suick. This is how I learned. The video is very informative. If I can find it, I will post it.

...hope that helped... apparently the short/sweet method failed

I fish the unweighted in heavy slop and I don't want it running deep . I like ones with the line tie very close to the nose so it dosen't catch weed. I drill a small hole in tail and attach a small swivel and a size 0 Colorado blade. The tail is only bent very slightly. I generally remove the rear hook as that is the one that swings around and sometimes endangers their eye. For the past 20 years 70% of my casting has been done with this lure .I can tease this through the thickest milfoil. I fish for dumb fish and they stink too.
