I just bought a used boat, and it has a 998 on the console and an iPilot Terrova trolling motor.

I am planning on upgrading the front graph to a 998, and upgrading the Terrova to an iPilot Link. What do I need to buy so they can all talk to each other?

1. iPilot Link upgrade
2. Humminbird 998 for bow
3. Lake Master card (Can you use Navionics?)
4. Do I need a networking device?
5. Do I need a different transducer or bracket for the trolling motor?

Do I need a 998? Does anyone use Side Imaging from the bow? Would a DI only sonar be better?

I have 2 birds 1198's they share the same transducer in the rear of boat or I can use the one off the trolling motor . I have them all linked together its great .you can use the navinonics but the trolling motor wont read the map you have to use the new Lake master card . I had both units connected till I bought the ipilot then I had to buy the network device to hook all 3 together . you can hook a transducer to your trolling motor but when the trolling motor moves you will get a blurred image every time the trolling motor moves .
