Muskie Fishing -> General Discussion -> How often do you cut and retie?

How often do you cut and retie?
OptionResults
Every day
After a couple of fish
After every fish
Every few days
Every couple weeks
As often as I feel is neccesary. I check my line often during the day...
just when a new leader is needed
when the line shows wear
When I re-spool a reel

Just a quick poll... Since switching to super lines, I don't retie as often. Became curious as to what others do...

learned the double line to the leader for cranks on rocks from Herbie … good trick that helps. key is to re-tie when you need to re-tie keeping an eye on your line as you fish.

I use that as well...took that from a video that Steve Heiting did.

Also use the double line to leader style on some of my rods, But in most cases retire every time I catch a fish . Unhooking, wrapped line through mouth/gill plate or even another hook has caused a weak spot . I don't take chances as fish are tough enough to catch.
