What makes these so prized in peoples minds? I haven't used them but by looking at a weagle they look massive, heavy, and something that you'll have to work very slow. What's the benifits of a walk the dog over just a topraider? Is this something to have in my arsenal? I can get a good deal on a weagle I just want to make sure it's the bait for me..

Thanks for any help.

You just answered your own question. Working it s....l....o....w. Why do people use them? They catch fish and some dandies as well.

Just a great search lure if you want to find out if there is some one around just put it on and watch behind some times way behind your bait they may not eat it every time BUT they will come and look now you have some one else on your milk run

Weagles are great baits for working good spots or spots where you know fish will/should be. They move alot of water and fish hammer them.

The weagle will wear you out! Jack Pots are a lot easier to work, but the hooking percentage isn't as good.
The 10 inch weagle has better action, than the 8 inch, for me. Use a heavy rod. I like a extra heavy. Shorter the rod, the better. Although I use 8 1/2 and 9 foot rods, but my boat sits high, in the water.
If you plan on throwing a weagle, for a few hours, you better put on your "big boy" pants!!!!!

Why? Because nothing is better than seeing a Muskie launch itself out of the water like Air Jaws. That's what got me hooked on WTD baits. That and they catch big fish.

I see more & larger fish on topwaters than any other bait and it's not cuz I throw them more either.
The change of direction and variable sound with WTD topwaters makes it a little more versatile than a prop bait like the T-Raider. Even more versatile are the heavier WTD baits like Weagles & Vipers cuz they sit lower in the water and thus, throw more water when worked. Easier to take um sub-surface as they approach the boat too.

There are simply days when WTD baits trigger fish when nothing else will.

You must be working the lure completely differently than I do. Easy lure to work.

Agree with Steve not hat hard to work unless your trying to work it really fast. I prefer the Cady death march with the weagle. Its a slow presentation. Its a hard direction change wih a big swoosh with a big pause. I would have no problems working the bait in my Winnie the Pooh footie pajamas.

There's an indelible and undoubtedly emotionally damaging mental image.....
