Great Footage!...I thought it was going to get speared which would have made me sick to my stomach. Thanks to the people in the video for leaving that one go to be caught another day!

I thought it was pretty awesome footage and even though you could tell they could of speared it they didn't. Although the one guy really really wanted to catch it. His mind was racing for a bit there.

They could not have speared it that video was taken in MN where it is illegal to spear muskies

No they could of speared it but chose to follow the law and didn't. Which is why I posted the vid.

I wish I hadn't watched that video. Now my musky withdrawls have gotten worse.

I have a couple of questions based on my own ignorance. Looks like the decoys have to have some plastic or beads as they do with tipups. I seen a show recently where they mentioned it but did not explain it, what is the reasoning behind that law?

I know the sucker was a decoy and had no hooks, are they allowed to let the musky grab it and take off? Looks like it took the sucker off the other part of the rig.

cool video.

Cool vid. Shows how easy it was in that case to distinguish species. No need to thank them for following the law though.

Guy did say he wished he had his Musky Setup, probably to figure 8 another decoy.

Here in IL it would be totally legal to catch it this time of year with some bait a hook and some line (ie no snagging or spearing). I never fished skis in MN. Do they have open seasons like WI? In IL you can fish them all year.

Either way they did the right thing in the vid despite the one guy really wishing he could catch it. The other guy really kinda blew off the eager one's idea of even going after it. At least thats how I saw it.

Just because it's illegal doesn't mean they couldn't, just means they shouldn't. The likely hood that they would have gotten caught if they had is slim.

2 WOWs!!

Cool video and I wish they would have caught it to see how big it really was....WOW

Why does everything always have to turn to the negative? So much concern for spearing or someone possibly hurting the fish, yadda yadda yadda.....Geeze!!! Who cares...it wasn NOT speared, hurt or even thought of being hurt, but still somehow brought up!?!?! WOW
