Posts: 34 | I have made two through wire lures. I used a saw to cut the slot. Check out Solarbaits video on Youtube called something like "How to carv a topwater lure". He shows how to do the through wire I'm talking about.

I have made a few wood ones , flat sided baits I get the size in shape that i want first. Then cut the lure in half ,top to bottom long ways. Then take a dremel in carve out the path were the wire will set. I do this on both sides so the wire is centered . Where you want the hooks you will have to make the area going down to the bottom of the lure wider for the wire to go down and then back up again , just making a u outside of the lure. Big enough to get your split ring in. Take wire back to center, depending on how many sets of hooks you need you can go over a few inches in do this again or go to the end of the lure and I make a loop just like you would on a bucktail.I do that on both ends .Just make sure you got plenty of wire when you start.

Posts: 34 | Cutting it in two peaces is harder and will take much more longer time. At least if you ask me :). Using a saw and cutting it long way from bottom to the middle. Cut it to the deep where you want to put the line ring and back hook. Then just bend the wire. Push it in and use epoxy glue so it stays in place. Then use small sticks of wood to shut the saw cut hole. Or just use plastic padding or glue. All this takes 10 minutes to do and it is very simple.

Posts: 1530 | I build wire thru every day. we drill our lures. for belly hooks pocket drill before drilling from end to end.. that's our preferred method on all georgie baits in straight models.

Posts: 1224 Location: Okoboji | i think cutting a slot with a dremel disk or table saw and then installing prebent wire and epoxy mixed with some filler material would work.

Posts: 360 | They make a router that looks like a small table saw blade. That works good.
