| I have a chance to get a couple 3.8:1 Abu`s and have never had anything that low-geared. Will these be a good reel for large baits? trolling? Creatures? Or are they really not real useful? Any help before I trade for these is very welcomed! Thanx alot! Handy |

Location: Eastern Ontario | They are great trolling reels for the big lures, the lower gear ratio makes it easyer to reel in the hard pulling oversized lures. Mine are 6500s C3s with a 4.3 to 1 ratio. |

I got one for my wife, a 5601 with the winch gears, but she doesn't think she'll like it... so, I'll use it for slower twitching, crankbaits, maybe even my big jigs. Sounds like good use of gear to me, but I'm prety much a rookie.
All the best,

| I had 3.8's that I put in my 6500. I had the same idea of using it for larger deeper cranks. I tried it for the majority of last summer but ended up changing back to the standard 5.1's. Line pick up was just too slow. Hard to keep slack out of the line with any kind of twitching.
My 2 cents.

| I agree with 0723. i basically just use mine for slow rolling big spinnerbaits and using huge cranks. |
