Posts: 337 Location: Central WI | Anyone ever get a musky reeling in a Dawg ball?..or have you had a musky hit when the tail is wrapped up in the hooks? I had a 40" come up and swipe at a Dawg ball as I was cranking it in this fall..wondered if anybody has caught a ski that way..

Posts: 143 Location: La Crosse, WI | Had two follow in my dawg-ball at the same time once, both were in the high 30's low 40's inch class. They didn't eat but it was cool to see. Other than that, no luck on them but I have heard of others catching them when they are wrapped around themselves.

Posts: 161 Location: New Jersey | Last year I was fishing early season and I noticed early in my retrieve that the leader was stuck under on the of blades and it wasn't spinning. I cranked it in fast to fix it and just as I took it out of the water I saw a good sized fish right below me. I was on the back deck of a flat-bottom and the fish was probably 12 inches from my foot. I could see a scar in its mouth where it had been recently hooked. I Figure 8 everything now, weedballs, fouled lures etc. and have had follows many times.

Posts: 113 Location: Northwest Wisconsin | Lost my biggest fish on a dawg ball. Was burning it in and she came out of nowhere and crushed it. 7 secs later she was gone. Hooks where locked together and I snipped off the top hook earlier in the day , live and learn I guess. Posts: 833 | Had a 4 footer follow a Dawgball in my friend's boat a few weeks ago. It happens. I've had a sub 40" go around on the eight 3 full revolutions on a bucktail that was fouled on the cast and the blades were not spinning. Go figure?

Posts: 246 | I've had several fish follow a dawg that is dragging about 10lbs of weeds. Going into the 8 is a freaking chore when that happens. Never had one bite though.

Posts: 6 | Ive had a bunch of fish follow dawg balls into the 8. I finally got a mid 30's to eat it in the 8. The tail of the pounder was fouled on the back hook u can see it on the video. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uJSXOoHcQfM Edited by muskynick85 11/18/2013 11:24 PM

Posts: 127 | If this takes off, someone is going to start selling makeshift connectors to lock your hooks and leader together. We'll start seeing people purposely fishing with dawg balls next fall.

| A bulldawg coming in sideways pushes more water like a larger baitfish swimming, and muskies like big food! Same as getting a follow with a big glob of weeds...it displaces more water. I'd say we don't always use big enough baits. | |||

Posts: 202 | We catch a couple of 50+ inch fish on Dawg or Dusa balls every year. 53 is biggest on one this year. They move a ton of water (thats y they pull so hard) and the tails are still moving. Most importantly the fish have no idea that, thats not how the bait is supposed to look
