Posts: 311 Location: Lake St.Clair | Is there anyway i can buy the hs gears from a 50 and put them in my 51? Assuming I cant because of the diffrent handedness. Any input would be greatly appreciated. Looked at the diagrams and did some searchs but couldn't find much. Thanks Troy

Posts: 245 | You can use gears from a Toro HS 51, i did and it works great Theres a JDM (Japanese Models) Toro with 7.1:1 gears though, would make a sweet bucktail reel

Posts: 311 Location: Lake St.Clair | I tried searching before I posted just didn't use winch in the search. I ended up with scattered results with no real conclusion guess ill compare part numbers from the NaCL to the toro and go from there. Thank you Troy

Posts: 245 | I just orderred from Abu You need the main gear, the pinion gear. Then depending on if it's the first or second generation Toro HS gears (i dont know how to check that) you might need the drag washers and metal bushings.

Posts: 2894 Location: Yahara River Chain | As stated in the other thread, you need to compare the other components around the main and pinion gears making sure the the one you have matches the one on the HS model. You should only have to replace the main and pinion gears and maybe the yoke. When you call Abu, make sure you have your reel in front of you and able to tell them what model you have and what you plan to do. I'm sure that they could do it, but it takes some time to eliminate this or that model to find the right one where you can just swap out the gears. Note - drag washer parts should be the same in both models. .

ABU has the scematics here, http://www.abugarcia.com/support/reel-schematics?field_schem_numb_v... you can match the scematics to the reels, by checking the code(number) under the reel foot. First and second gen gears has different part numbers.
