What shop would you recommend as a last stop to grab some baits and maybe a rod on the way to Vermillion from Duluth? THANK YOU!!

Did a quick google search and found this in Virginia. I have not been in there so I cannot say if they have muskie gear or not but you could call them. Otherwise you'd have to search for Ely Mn, if you go up Hwy 1 that way? Virginia and Ely are the 2 biggest towns near Vermillion and you already have a Duluth tip. I don't know if there is anything in Cook or not? I suspect it would be a small shop if there is one. Call your resort and ask them.

Some of the Holiday Station stores around Mille Lacs carries muskie gear. Check and see if there are any Holiday stations near Vermillion that does too. Just a thought.

Gander Mountain, just north of Duluth, in Hermantown. They have a basic muskie selection. Not a lot, but decent.
A few Medussa's, bulldawgs, crankbaits, jerkbaits, bucktails. top-waters, ect.
L and M, in Virginia, has a very limited supply.
Don't remember seeing any muskie lures, in Ely.
Don't know where you are coming from, but it's worth going to Thorne Bros., even if you have to drive a couple of hours out of your way.

The two best to choose from are Marine General, which is kinda out of the way because it is near downtown Duluth, and Fishermans Corner. Fishermans Corner has a go selection and pretty much right on the way. Instead of taken hwy 33 keep going north on 35 and get off on Midway Rd.It will take you to right to 53 and pretty much right into Fishermans Corner parking lot.

The Bait Box in superior might be a little bit out of the way but may be worth a call.

I like the guys at Marine General, but their musky tackle is WAY overpriced. Gander's selection stinks. There's a Lucky 7 on the west side of Virginia a block off the highway that has a better selection and is more reasonably priced.

I live in Duluth and order everything online because nothing around here is worth the drive.

Ya great question--

With a cabin on Big V I did the same search in and around Duluth-but really disappointing---crazy there is not something better with Big and LOTW on that route that everyone takes..

I agree ---Steve at Spring Bay--West end of V on Vermilion DR. has the best selection of classic baits that work----perhaps he will read this and continue to expand and get more stuff---just a real small office---not really a store....

Thanks guys! I have a good selection of ToothTamer rods, usually a couple reels on hand and lots of baits that work on the Big V! I just got a bunch of rubber of all sizes in, next year my office is expanding so the tackle selection will get even bigger...got a lot of baits I wanna start stocking!! Feel free to call me with any questions on my bait selection right now. 218-666-5607 resort, or my cell is 218-780-5941

Small bait shop in cook has big sucker minnows and some lures next to gas station as coming into town. We also have a small shop with new and interesting lures on way to vermilion. Don't think I can advertise here. Tooth tamer rods are awesome BTW good rods
