| Hi:
I have 2 HDS7, one on the bow and one on the dash. I have the settings set exactly the same for both.
My problem is when I am in the bow working the trolling motor and I am over a patch of weeds, my unit is showing almost nothing. I run back and look at the one on the dash and it's clearly showing the weeds below like it should.
Do you guys think I have a bad transducer up front (although it's showing the depth just fine)?
It's just weird to me that with the exact same settings, they are charting the weeds differently.
Thanks - Midge |

| Regarding settings, are you running both units in Auto Sensitivity mode or Manual Mode? Also, is your ducer for your console unit mounted as shoot-thru-hull or is it mounted on the outside of the transom.
I will say that the only time I run my units in Manual Mode is when fishing over submerged vegetation. Otherwise, Auto Mode works great when not fishing over grass. However, thick vegetation can throw Auto mode for a loop, as the unit can recognize the top of the thick vegetation as bottom. I run my bow unit with transducer on trolling motor at 60-65% sensitivity to read the grass well and see the true bottom. However, on my console unit, because I have the ducer mounted as shoot-thru, about 10 % of the power is absorbed by the hull, so I run that unit at 70-75%. |

Location: Algonquin, IL, Lake Geneva, WI | Few things I would recommend. On both units did you go under your sonar settings and tell the unit which transducer is hooked up to it? Under the sonar menu go to 'installation" and choose the proper transducer that is hooked up to the unit. Each Lowrance transducer has a silver tag by the plug saying which model number it is. For a Minn Kota US2, use the generic 83/200 setting. Once that is done, also make sure they are both set to the same frequency so you are comparing apples to apples. |
