Looking for a new prop for a lund 1700 with a 2012 60 hp mercury four stroke. Just wanted to see if anyone out there is running a similar setup, and what prop setup is being used.
I believe the one that came on my motor was a black diamod 10 3/8x13 and the hole shot is a bit brutal.

Hiya,

How's your top end speed and rpms if you have it?

Without knowing anything more about the rig and your view of the hole shot, it sounds like you might be over-pitched a bit.

I'll work with you on it.

Top end with 2 guys and gear is right around 29. Not sure on exact rpms. Would a stainless prop make a noticable difference compared to the aluminum?

Hiya,

At that horsepower, probably not. It would increase durability, though, but in that increase you would need to drop 2" in pitch or so to spin it at roughly the same rpms.

How does the boat perform with just you and your gear? How is hole shot in that case?

Top end with just one person is right around 31. The hole shot is noticeably better with just a single person.

If you continually fish with other people, I would say drop your pitch by 2". It will help your hole shot tremendously, but the sacrifice will be your top end. No matter what you do, there will be a compromise somewhere.

If you want to try some other props, I would suggest trying a solas 3 blade propeller. It will have a thinner blade with some tail edge cupping, and by their casting process, you get a stronger prop than standard stock cast aluminum prop.

I will look into the solas 3 blades. Thanks much for your information sharing!
