hello to all,

I'm nicola , I live in the small town of Vicenza,
only the pike fishing for many years, but casting from 5 and sometimes fly in recent seasons .
produce some bait for personal use only .
my spots are small and medium rivers , alpine lakes , and most importantly .. a pond swamp .
if I do 3/4 sessions per week ... I'm sick
the pike fishing is my passion!

best regards

Nik

I have a question for you fellow. In fact a couple of them. What type of pike baits do you use most successfully? What is the size of your average catch?

Nik ------ a 100 years ago ,,, my grand parents moved from northern Italy to the USA --- they were from a small town called Sempetre (spelling ??) ,,, west of Turin --- try using a 9" weighted Suick in the "Bronze Perch" color pattern for your pike fishing ------ <*)}}}}}}}}}}><{{ ------- Jim Martino

If the Suick doesn't work, snap on the original sized Manta. Those things are pike magnets. When I hear the word *Manta*, I hear *pike*.

thanks for the welcome guys,
dream every night your musky .
I did not catch today and I'm already sick ,
but I built some bait for me.

answer the questions on the pikes Italian .
there esox Flaviae , the true Italian pike , endangered , most of the small northern pike but much more combative .
there is the northern pike , which was introduced 15/20 years ago , and is equal to all northern pike in the world.
the northern pike is easier to catch.
I alternate spots with esox Flaviae from northern pike .

baits that are used for pike in Italy ... I'm yours!
it uses a lot of the hair bug , invented by luca cattin , the true father of modern fishing for pike in Italy .
I am inspired by a lot to his bait when building.

the pike in the picture of the avatar is 46 inch long , and it is my record, captured with a mouse orange ( 3oz x 9inch ) made ??with my own hands.

Italian waters are poor .i fishing not only on places rich in pike , but also in the spot where it is very difficult to find one only .
in the Great Lakes there are big pike , I had followers 50inch ,
but not often in these fishing in great lake.my boat is very small, also use the belly boat.my friend Claudio , leads me in the Great Lakes because it has good and big boat.

the average size of a pike Italian is 28inch.
for the esox flaviae is very good the jerk bait lure european, and not good the american jerkbait.salmo slider, strike pro buster jerk, spoon (panter martin 1oz),castaic boot tail, hair bug, spinnerbait, dawg regular and spring, mini medussa.

for the northern pike is good all american lure, but not too large.
i like grandma and jake, the dawg regular and magnum, big spinnerbait home made, and the lure for esox flaviae.

I'll show you some pictures of Italian pike (Esox Flaviae ) have beautiful colors , my first esox Flaviae I took it when I was 12 years old, and there were many.
Now I am 34 years old and there are very few esox Flaviae.

Many photos of my Pikes are here https://www.facebook.com/nicola.carli

But not the photos of my last record, and other fish "over" that I don't want to see other pike hunter in my area.
In Italy, the competition is very high.
Meanwhile, watch these, when I have time I do see the other.
But...Here I feel safe!

Ahahahah:-)

Would love to see a few pictures of "Italian pike " strain.

Looks good skin colors, and compares with northern pike.
They are very different

The really italian pike (esox flaviae) In danger of extinction is smaller but more combative northern Pike...

Little...

When I go to fishing esox flaviae are very happy also because a 20 inch,
The Italian State does not protect the pike esox flaviae and 10 years will be extinct. everything in Italy ... it works badly.

Thanks for the pics! Those are beautiful fish. They seem to have a head and build closer to a tiger musky than a northern. I hope your country can save them before they are gone. Thanks to Muskie first for bringing us all together world wide.

Nik got me intrigued. So I did a google search and came across a few pics of Amur pike. To me these have to be some kind of Muskie. Pointed(ish) tail and the color pattern. So much that we here in the US don't know about.

Italy has two fish that the rest of Europe does not have.
The marble trout, pike (esox flaviae) Italian
You ask why?
Watch Italy on a map.
It is separated from Europe by the Alps. many scientists say these two fish have evolved to our climate in thousands of years, becoming different from brown trout and northern pike are present in all of Europe

Those are some awesome fish, Nik. I would feel lucky to even see a pike as big as some of those. I would be happy for life catching a 48" pike.

I have read about the esox flaviae Italian pike recently. Apparently it was not known to be a separate species until relatively recently, and by then northern pike had been stocked all over Italy and were wiping out the native fish.

in some rivers and small lakes in my area, it was not sown northern pike.only pure esox Flaviae area.in this example..
today I caught belly boat in a small lake and I lost two pike (argh!!!!grrr!!)on italian 30inch.

Nik- some very pretty fish! LOL - now I have Italian pike fishing connection. If you ever get the USA or Canada on holiday, I'm sure one or more of the member's here would be happy to offer a spot on their boat.

Have fun & keep us posted. I use European pike lure's for muskie also, after all they are cousins!
