I have never fished Lake Vermilion but will be there in mid Oct. We are staying at a resort near the dam. Can anyone help in shortening my search for this short 2 day visit? I have cisco and whitefish baits. Does live bait work well?

Hopfully you'll do better then we did last week it was almost impossible to
Move a fish, but I'd try to fish the rock reefs and steep breaks there's plenty on that
Side of the lake good luck to ya.

I went up last year. One guy soaked suckers for a couple days and never moved a fish on them. I wouldn't mess with livebait.

I am leaving Sunday for a week up there.

Fishing has been slow! Did not move a fish, today.
Used blades, rubber, glide baits, and even trolled for four hours.
Talked to a guide, out on the water, and they only saw a couple of lazy ones, all day.
Water temps were 55-56 degrees.

I am really hoping the lake doesn't turn over next week while we are up there.
Temps are supposed to drop which will hopefully fire up the fishing.

It;s a big lake and different areas turn over at different times. Can be tougher than normal, but the fish are there and always have to eat. Just have to find them.
