Posts: 122 Location: Bloomington, IL | So I am going to be headed over to Lake Webster the 13th-15th of Sept. My aunt and uncle have a place on the east end of the lake, almost perfectly dividing the backwaters from the main lake. Prefacing this with I am JUST now getting back to muskies after a long duration away (so be gentle!) what kind of pattern/presentation should I be planning for at this time of year? Any tips? Thanks! Posts: 51 | I fish webster/tippy/barbee quite regularly. I'm sure others have had decent results w different patterns but I primarily try to target suspended shad and bluegill. I almost always soak a sucker that time of year. Don't overlook the back waters in sept. either

Posts: 122 Location: Bloomington, IL | so like using shad imitators, and locating the big schools? So my fav baits to throw are blades...will that be something i get to use, say in the backwaters, or does it make more sense to do larger solid baits?

Posts: 51 | In my own experience I start w shad or bluegill imatator if that doesn't move fish I exsperament until I find what they want, changing the size and speed of the bait first then color. I find speed n size a bigger factor then color. As for bait schools I've typically found them in deeper open water. As for blades I see no reason they wouldn't work in the backwaters as they have for me in the past

Posts: 618 Location: Michigan | I would check out the deepest holes in the lake throwing Bulldawgs/Medussas/Kickin' Minnows and other big soft plastics. Keep looking for baitfish schools on your sonar as the muskies will be chasing after them.

Posts: 122 Location: Bloomington, IL | It was mid 70's the 13th and 14th. The cold front really seemed to kill it for me. That or I don't actually know how to fish, which seems more likely every day. Lol
