I'd choose PP over mono but that's about it. I've fished about a dozen different superlines, most are pretty good now. Masterbraid is definitely good stuff, PP is not for me. To each their own.

Just curious...those that have not so good things to say about power pro are you talking about the standard power pro or the newer power pro super slick because there is a huge difference between them in my opinion...

Cortland has replaced all my powerpro, a little more money but will that matter as that fish swims away......

I use Cortland Masterbraid on all my set-ups and always have. I like the way it performs. I can trust it, it lasts, and it's smooth. But I'm surprised it hasn't been noted that it tends to hold more water that a few other brands. I thought that I had heard that some guys switch out their Masterbraid in the Fall for a dryer line?

I prefer Cortland over PowerPro and prefer Tuf-Line XP over Cortland.

Although I have been running that 80 lb. blue Cortland (I believe it's Cortland) on my high speed set-up and I have been impressed.

I run masterbraid on all my rods except the dedicated trolling rod. 100 lb power pro on the trolling rod works well and you can use the dive charts available. Will not use 80 lb power pro due to break off isues.

I used the Slick stuff once. For the first few weeks it was great, after that it began to fray, and fast. All Masterbraid now.

Don't think Power Pro has gone downhill at all. Other companies have either improved their products or new ones come along that have now set the pace for advanced braids. Power Pro is pretty much the same as it always has been.
