Location: Oconto Falls, WI | What is the best/preferred way for trolling spinnerbaits? I am new to trolling in general, but this is something I really want to try. Normal speeds? How much line out? Preferred size of spinnerbait? Prop Washing spinnerbaits?

In my VERY limited experience trolling spinnerbaits along weed edges i have had the opportunity to lose the biggest Muskie i have ever had on the end of my line. I was trolling with about 40-50 feet of line out at about 3.5 mph when it hit using a Muskie boss spinnerbait. We were in about 12 -14 feet of water and i guess the lure was running pretty shallow (top 5 feet anyway). I have also had tons of pike slam it in the process. Again, this is a new thing for me so take my experience with some caution. BUT, hooking and losing the biggest muskie of my life will keep me trying the pattern. |

Location: oswego, il | Cisco, all of the above. You can troll them fast, slow, 10ft of line out if you wish. The weight of the spinnerbait will dictate the speed at which it will troll. Some will roll over at faster speeds, some will break the surface while a heavier one will stay down a couple of feet at that same speed. You will have to exeriment with what baits work at what speeds and with how much line out. Weeds also dictate this too and how close they are to the surface. |
