Has anyone switched from foot control to hand control? I have a tuffy esox 1700 and absolutely love the boat. One of the few complaints I have with it is that the lid to the rod box is pretty long, so they had to move the pedestal mount pretty darn close to the bow of the boat. this makes it kinda hard to use the cable drive. I hate the powerdrive, so that isn't an option. I was thinking of going to the hand control trolling motor style so that I won't be fighting with the foot pedal all time. Anyone else have this issue, or went back to the old style of trolling motor?

I am with you in hating foot control. I'd definately go back to a hand control over foot control any day, although right now you'll have to pry my ipilot from my cold dead hands, hah. Considered a Terrova?

I had one years ago.. I put an extended handle on it so I could bump it with my hip..
Worked pretty well. Now I am back to a foot control...

Since I put a terrova ipilot on my boat I'll fish out of the back 90% of the time. One thing that would be nice is if there would be a simple foot control just for the spot lock feature. I'll use spot lock when a fish is raised and it can be a bit clumsy trying to hit spot lock on the hand remote when you've got a fish engaged at boatside. A simple floor switch just for this that can be tapped with your foot would be pretty spiffy

biggest difference aside from overwhelming awesomeness is it can operate with both pedal and remote. the ipilot is the most simple set it and forget systems there is and if need be, the foot control for it is much easier to use than a cable drive in terms of ergonomics, plus autopilot. Unless they make something even better, I'd refuse to own a boat without a Terrova/Ipilot.

I personally love my motorguide w75 wireless. The pedal is low profile, I have the hand control also and have had no issues with it in the 4 years I have owned it. I believe it turns faster than the power drive and it has 30 speed settings which lets you dial in your speed no matter what the conditions.
