Location: Minneapolis, MN | Was up at the cabin the past few days and had some luck fishing... Thursday morning I went out with my brother bright and early. We raised a mid 40s fish right before sunrise, really hot fish that nipped 3 times in the 8. We came back to it after fishing the rest of the weedbed and I hammered a 50 incher that hit almost immediately when the bait hit the water. Have caught 2 other 50s before but this seemed like the largest so we were calling it my pb at the time. Little did we know the day had other things in store for me. Got back to the cabin and my dad was talking to me about maybe getting a replica mount of it. I told him I think we should wait until the end of the season because I have a bigger one coming.
That night I went out fishing with my brother and cousin (his first time muskie fishing). We fished for a couple hours without seeing a thing so I sarcastically said "this lake sucks" in mid cast. Wouldn't you know it I had a low to mid 40s follow my phantom that very cast! A couple casts later on my first twitch a fish crushed it. After what seemed like an eternity we had a 53 in the bag. This fish was an absolute beast. I guess I'm glad I took off work that day!
