| Last week of July I did a camping trip with a few buddies up in Vilas right before the big cold front hit. We had some great fishing the few days prior to, and even some decent night fishing after the front came in.
I had won a guide trip with Capt. Matt Raley of Hideaway Hollow Outfitters earlier in the year through C&R musky club, and was able to take it when I was up for the week. If you are up in the area, and looking for a guide who knows his lakes well,
and can put you in front of some fish, look him up!
I had 5 hits that day from ski's, landed 2, and a few bonus 30+ inch pike (which 1 of them met the camp fish fry) all in all a great trip for really only fishing about 5 hours. The guy pictured next to me ended up hitting Matt in the face with a DD,
Matt didn't even flinch! or even get mad, LOL Now that is a good guide!
We cut the trip short since we had to be back for lunch, but I learned quite a bit in that short amount of time on a lake I never spend any time.
All in all, another successfull Vilas trip, in total we had 8 fish caught amongst us,
5 were over 40" with a 44 topping the list that I caught with Matt.
Everyday I ask myself why I live 3 hours south of heaven!
