I have 2 spools of 80 lb braid with about 180 ft of line on each spool. I try to put on at least 300 ft of line per reel, but obviously didn't measure right with the other reels. What do you guys think about joining the lines with double uni knots? Is it a pretty trustworthy knot to securely tie the lines together, is there a better knot or should I just order some more line?

That's a great knot. It's inline but you'll still feel it thru the guides. But I can't believe you'll cast out 60 yards at a crack

I wouldn't worry about knot strength, but I might be concerned about the placement of the knot. You might not get it buried under enough line, so it may hurt when thumbing your spool during the cast. I prefer to have at least 75 yards of braid for this reason, but depending upon which reel you put it on this could be a complete non-issue. Not trying to discourage your attempt, just a caution.

It's my jerkbait/glider reel. I know I won't be casting the full distance, but was wondering about the knot strength in general. Although, with a weagle I can really bomb it out there. The thumbing issue is a great point. I guess I can just try it and see how it works casting. Thanks for the input.

Considering a cast over 40ft I think hook sets and action with a glider would be really tough...that being said I have never had a uni to uni fail. Just keep in mind although it is a streamline know it will make a "lump" under the rest of ur line on the spool. I usually like to give knots the old line in vice test on the work bench...if I pull the workbench away from the wall it gets my approval. Cut the tag end off that was in the vice!!

I've used uni to uni many times and never had one fail. Take your time when tightening it to make sure all of the wraps are in place and you won't have an issue (and use plenty of spit).
