| I imagine it would be tough to steal this boat, being right off the main drag and Hayward police are normally pretty thick. On the other hand, I don't think an officer would pull anyone over for nonchalantly hooking up to it and driving away. I would imagine they should be able to get some surveillance from local businesses of it at one of the near intersections.
Either way, sad to see someone stealing for any reason. |

Location: Sawyer County, WI | I just parked next to that boat last week while stopping in at Hayward Bait. I didn't notice if the boat/trailer was locked in any way but hopefully it was insured.
It's a shame there are so many D-baggers out there.... |

| Even in Canada they steal boats and equipment right from the dock.
My dad taught me 30 years ago if you want something stolen leave it out. No excuse on not putting electronics and fishing equipment in locked car or cabin. Takes another 10-15 minutes a day but well worth it.
There are things you can do to prevent your boat from being stolen as well. Even a tralier and its wheels. Thieves like going after easy target and if you make yours a little harder to steal then the guy next to you you will not be selected.
We live in a society were people like to steal as the penalty of being caught is not severe enough. |

| Sounds like they found the boat less the motor out near Phipps . If you have been to Hayward you know where that is. Must have been local talent! SCUMBAGS!

I agree it's low, but sometimes people make it very easy to steal stuff. Think of how long it takes you to hook up your boat, especially if you have someone guiding you back. Hook on, lock on to the ball, don't bother with the chains, drive away. 5 minutes tops? I bet most could do it in a minute and change. Very quick to do, especially if its not locked up at all. It doesn't take much for stones I don't think. We agree they have little sense though!
