Looking for input from anyone who has had this procedure. I am 42 years old and the eye Doc. said that he can do monolasik for near and far vision.

Thanks

Worth every penny. I went in at 9:00 am with 20/120 vision, had the procedure, left at noon, slept off the tranq's and at 7 am the next morning was 20/15.

I'm 51 and went in for lasik's in March, having 20/50 vision. I needed reading glasses and couldn't see distances very well prior to the surgery. I elected to set both eyes for distance. The day after surgery I was seeing 20/20 and my distance vision was spectacular. My close (reading) vision was probably a little worse. I cannot read small print or do any type of close-in work (tying knots, threading line thru hook eye, sharpening hooks) without the help of readers. I also experienced dry eyes and bright halos around lights at night for the first three months, but haven't noticed this at all lately. That part seems to get better over time. So, the bottomline is somewhat worse near vision is the downside to the surgery I chose. Look up off the page in front of you though, and the world is a much clearer place! I'd do it again. Brian

I highly recommend the procedure.  I had it done in when I was 42 and has been the best money ever spent.  Be sure to follow the doctors orders and REST after the procedure.  If you don't, it can backfire on you.  With the great results I had, I didn't need the enhancement.

Did you have the mono lasik?

I had it done in March. I think they said I was 20/60 or 20/80 I can't remember. However, at 54 i still did not require reading glasses, could see just fine up close. I went with the monovision, where they did only the one eye. 20/20 the next day. Still don't need cheaters, but one thing they predicted that did happen was loss of some depth perception up close. I don't have to ask the kid what that street sign says anymore And night driving is so much better. Course I was driving basically illegaly the last few years. I highly recommend it. One thing I hoped was that it would help me see follows better or sooner. Jury is still out on that, probably because of small sample size so far.

Didn't have monolasik but had lasik a year and a half ago, after always wearing contacts or glasses for almost 20 years and went from very near sighted to 20/15 and would do it in another 10-20 years if I need it. Worth every penny. Eyes a little irratated the day of and woke up the next day just fine.

I had -5.75 prescription. I could only read the E on the eye chart. Had standard lasik 13 years ago and my vision has been perfect ever since. I'm 43 now. I'm starting to have trouble reading small print which is normal for my age and not related to lasik. I think the results are very dependent on whether you have a stigmatism. I didn't which the doc told me made my chances for success very high. One of my best decisions ever!

i did it a few mo ago and I've had pretty good luck... some mornings my eyes are super dry and for me the key is to rewet my eyes at least once during the night if possible...vision is about 20/20 now.... overall it was a good decision and I'd do it again

I was what would have been considered legally blind. Did it about 10 years ago and am 20/15 with no dryness/irritation/night issues.

It takes a few weeks for most patients to see 20/20. Next day vision is usually close to 20/40. It improves rapidly, but things look a little funky the first few days.

Go for it, you can't go wrong with either Lasik or PRK. I had PRK done and it has helped me a lot. Best of luck.

If you are going to do the near and far, first try it using contacts I did and didn't like it at all, I had correction done for distance only in both eyes. I ended up with 20-13 and 20-15 and wear cheaters to read. I love it and would do it again.

110% worth it. I now have 20/10 and 20/15. Only think I suggest is, just like a boob job...don't go cheap I went to the top doctors in Minneapolis that do most of the athletes and rich in the area. Cost me $3500 10 years ago. Cheap procedure was $500 for both eyes and I have seen some nightmares about the less expensive procedures... I am sure they have even better techniques now. Good luck

I had to wear contacts to see far and lowlight street signs. I had Lasik(free from insurance) about 3 years ago. I wish I knew that the result was I now have to wear reading glasses every time I read anything. It still is a hassle today. I am 50 so the doc said I would have needed them by now anyways. I wish he had told me before getting the simple surgery. My book reading fell from 10 books/year to maybe 1/2. I must have 15 pairs of +1.75 walmart cheapie glasses everywhere in the house, boats, cars/trucks.
