When you arrive at the lake and ask the folks you are fishing with to remind you of what you forgot, but forgot to tell them to remember.

When you prefer trolling to casting only because its easier on old arms and you can sit a while.

You search for your missing truck keys for 45 minutes only to realize that they have been in your hand the whole time. And, don't even get me started on the day that i found my phonebook in my refrigerator.

Mornings can start at ANY dark 30...but there is a list of things that must happen before we leave the cabin. Nothing moves until IT moves...some days are worse than others.

This is why it's important to keep TP in the boat. If I waited for IT to move I'd never make it to the water!

Every fart must be tested a little before letting it go.

You're getting old when you start carrying a port-a-potty in your boat.

You have surgery and find yourself comparing it to all your previous surgeries.

You get a letter from the Hospital informing you that the tenth surgery is not free. (It was worth a shot anyway.)

Your neighbor comes over to let you know that your kids are making bets with their kids on what you're getting fixed next year. And, by the way, how is that shoulder doing these days?

Due to physical problems, you haven't been fishing for so long that your boat is overflowing with old cardboard boxes, swimming floats, half-empty water bottles and a bunch of other stuff. And your fishing tackle is buried somewhere under all of that.

You find yourself saying "If I can get out fishing this year" instead of "When I get out fishing".

Lost 2 pair of cheaters by 3rd day of vacation. Had to go into town for a new pair. Aleve is holding up ok. Naps are becoming full fledged sleeps. Life is great.

Love this discussion! I have 2 to add:

Worried about losing your expensive hearing aids when leaning over to release a fish, but also worried that without them you won't hear your partner yell, get the net!

This one happened, 20 years ago, I was still fairly young but my fishing buddy's step dad was not. We raised a big fish 10 miles from nowhere on LOTW. We were all doing the Fig. 8; the fish didn't hit. The step-dad took a vile out of his pocket and started popping pills. I asked, what's up? He responded, nitro! Yikes, I asked him what the heck he was doing out in the middle of LOTW chasing Muskies? He said there was nothing he'd rather be doing! We still call that spot the Nitro Rock and now I understand what he meant

When you remember fishing in a 14' aluminum johnboat, without sonar, without a trolling motor, with a hand drawn map, having to retie 5-10 times per day because the line would fray, having only one fishing rod which was a 5'9" fiberglass rod which for its time was a long (heavy) rod, carrying only 6 muskie baits (and none of them were a Slammer!), and the loose rope start 15HP outboard was two years older than I was...........and we still caught fish!
