| I fish a small river that has some big pike in it, I throw Muskie baits and do best with 6 in phantom softail, hellhounds and shallow invaders, big game twitchers are good too. I've caught 14 in pike on double tens, 18 in on 10 in creek chubs. |

| Thanks for the replies. i fish a lake that has good sized pike. my first caught their being a 2 foot 5lb pike. i realize that is a pretty small pike but at the lake i used to go to i have never caught a pike over 15". plus i saw alot of pictures at the office and the record pike for that lake was 38 pounds. |

| I agree with most of what is said, 6" jakes are my go to for pike. However you cannot beat in my mind a good ol' spoon. This is my father-in-law this past weekend.

| Pike love big baits. Especially in the fall. They will eat my big sucker minnows. I usually use 6-8 inch baits for pike. But then again, I'm usually going for trophies.
Pike also love big 4 inch spoons. You can throw them all day long and not even break a sweat. Big spinnerbaits with rubber are a favorite also.

| last summer I took a new magnum bulldawg out of the package made three cast and caught a 23inch pike. That was just fine but the tail was ripped off the bulldawg in the process. I like lures that hold up. Most of my local waters are loaded with small pike. As good as bulldawgs and some other rubber baits are I tend not to use them much, just cost to much. Musky fishing is not cheap to begin with. I wish I had a picture but was fishing alone. |

Location: Land of the Musky | I got a 13" pike on a 20" long MegaD a few years ago. no clue what that littel guy thoguth he was goign to do wiht that lure. Mos tof my big pike have came on Reg and Mag SuperDs, Bulldawgs, Suzy Suckers and 9" and 10" weighted Suicks. |

| Because my closest musky waters are about an hour away, I am 'forced' to chase big pike on a local reservoir to get me my fix! I have caught small pike on huge lures and big pike on small lures... and vice versa. However, here are some things I've found so far...
When casting, they love the rubber! Especially in the fall. Working outside falling weedlines with regular dawgs has produced the best action, however, I have purchased a few gliders that will likely make their debuts this fall! I have gotten some attention using big spinnerbaits too.
When trolling, I have found that BDRs and BSRs are killer. Bigger baits will catch fish, no doubt. However, if you like to catch a lot of fish, stick to the midsize baits. I run them around 2.5 mph, which is on the slow end, but that's where those lures run best... and the fish love em.
I guess the overriding theme I have found is that when chasing pike of all sizes, stick to the smaller baits in your musky box, like 6-8" cranks, regular dawgs, spinnerbaits, etc. You will still catch the big fish with no trouble, but you will put more 'small' fish in the boat too... and after all, we all LOVE to catch fish!!!

Location: Erie, PA | I have caught lots of pike over 40" on bigger baits like 9" sledges & weagles. But my biggest pike hit a lucky craft pointer 100 jerkbait.

Location: Stevens Point, WI | I fish with a group of gentleman who have been doing a fly-in trip with the same outfitter in Ontario for walleye and pike for the last 20 years. They swore by spoons and more traditional tackle when my brother and I first joined the group . My largest fish was caught on a weedless Silver Minnow on walleye gear with no leader and 8lb XT. It took awhile to land the fish and by the time she was expired a boat had ran to camp and back with a bigger net. The first big fish I caught in this lake was on a 14" walleye that was swallowed whole.
I have brought Musky gear the last 4 years with great success. Last year when we unloaded gear I discovered that the older, more traditional gentleman in the group all had new rod cases for their longer rods and a plug selection that unanimously included mantas, gliding raps and small buck tails. Big fish eat big prey by nature and their are many BIG northerns that are overlooked in Canadian waters that receive little and or no pressure. Hit a fly-in just right and find any warming, shallow bay with weed growth. Gator Slamming!

| I had a fingerling pet Pike that ate it's sibling a quarter inch shorter then it's self.. The tail stuck out of it's mouth for a good part of the day.. |
