I have a 2005 Ranger Reatta and am looking for suggestions on what to use to clean the interior hull that will not damage and bilge pump wires, depth finder pucks, etc.... For some reason there is a foul smell coming from the rod locker in the floor of the boat, probably from mildew or moisture. Any suggestions?

Put an ozone generator in there and leave it running a few days, prefereably enclose the boat as with your cover or a tarp. It will oxidize the odor and kill and mold or mildew or bacteria. If you try to do it with a spray odor eliminator you'll have to know what the source of the odor is and make sure you get it, and probably have to reapply. Spraying Lysol or something will prevent additional odor from forming but will not do much to neutralize the odor that already exists.

Haha, you're supposed to clean the interior?

I noticed that my rod locker was really stinking bad last year too... thought about removing the carpet in there. Ended up just storing my boat with the hatch (s) open until everything is dry, no problem now.

Shoot me a pm. I have an ozone generator and live in Orono. That thing really works on odors. My wife has used it on entire houses. You probably wanna do some research though. I think its hard on plastics.

Thanks for the offer but once the humidity went done the smell seemed to go away. Since the gas tank and is right next to the hull rod locker, I am not really comfortable with hooking up a machine in the rod locker and covering the boat. I think I will stick with using a general cleaner and then let it dry out. Thanks again.
