Does anyone know what is needed in the boat in the state of Illinois? Such as Anchor, ropes, life preservers-jackets etc.

You need a life vest for each person in the boat. A throwable flotation device with I think one hundred feet of line. A horn or whistle. I think these are the only requirements if you are not on the big lake.

You also need a fire extinguisher that must be MOUNTED "in plain sight". It cannot be located inside a storage compartment. Your throwable also cannot be located inside a storage compartment. If you have a battery with dual terminals, you must cover both sets of teminals or put it in a covered box.

if you go on lake michigan you need a bright signal flag, and air horn or a flair gun and a air horn. There always has to be a signal sign and a devise that makes a loud sound
