I'm sitting here in Louisville, KY looking at my outdoor thermometer and I can't see any red!! We are having some of the coldest weather we've had in over 5 years. The low tonite is to be O degrees. Cabin fever is setting in. My mind is wandering,........ remembering those warm summer breezes softly blowing across the bow of my boat as I cast the black bucktail into the timber at Cave Run. The soft but aggressive begging of the Bud Girls calling from the back of the boat," com'on Mav, lets pull up to shore, we've got some SOFT lures we'd like YOU to try!." I glance back "Not now girls, we're coming up to a great cove." I turn back to the front of the boat. "Whats that white stuff floating thru the air? Looks like snow?" I turn back to look at the girls, they're gone! "Where did those Eskimos come frommm?............... Reality is setting back in. Geeez its really cold![;)]

That's funny stuff!
Thanks for the laugh Mav!

Here in central Illinois the temp is currently -1 degree. That's up from when I got out of bed this morning when it was -5 degrees. Plus there is about 12 inches of ice on our nearest muskie lake.

Are there muskies in Florida?

Come on Guys...that's warm weather to us northern folks! Right now we're under a wind chill advisory in Rhinelander. With the wind we are registering -20 to -30 degrees. Now that's cold. Damn Saturn makes such a reliable vehicle that it just had to start this morning. So I just had to go to work, was hoping for a day off. Not fit for man, nor beast out there.

Hey Jo- I'm a Wisconsin transplant to Louisville. I sure do miss the hunting & fishing. You can keep the weather!! Have a place on HWY 17 between Sugar Camp % Eagle River. Haven't been there since '93. That really sucks. Pray for southerly breezes!

I don't know what the temp is right now, but I do know it's flat dead freezing cold!!!![:(] The wind is gusting and blowing snow everywhere...just looked at the temp thing outside, 18 degrees. Supposed to hit 25 tomorrow, then back into the 40s+ w/in a few days. I still don't see how you stand it up there. Four sets of sliding glass doors upstairs do NOT make for good insulating, but it is nice to stand there and shiver looking out knowing that it will eventually, sometime, but not soon enough, WARM UP!

Here on the East side of Milwaukee, it's a balmy 3 degrees. Lake is helping to warm us up here. When I came in to work this morning, the 2 dozen or so Canadian geese on the river channel all had been completely covered with frost from the vapor rising from the channel. Through the vapor, they looked like ghosts!

Hey Shep- I used to live on Oaland Ave. Many Many years ago. How's the FES doi'n? (Fashionable East Side) Is the TRACKS still there? I can't even remeber all the bars I used to hang out at on the east side during the late 70's and early 80's.

I don't live on the FES. I work down off 13th, by the canal. Yes, Tracks is still there, and still has great burgers, bartenders, waitresses, and scenery. I used to shoot pool for them in the early 80's. I was there when the train hit a car in the parking lot one night!

-18 at my hacienda this AM. That's a little brisk. I actually had to where a jacket today. Maybe tommorrow I will wear socks inside my sandals instead of just barefeet. Hope that it warms a bit. If it gets up to zero or so I am going to grill some steaks on the charcoal Friday night.

shep- I bartended at the tracks around 84-85 not quite sure on the years, most of that part of my life is a big blur. Lucky for me I met my wife. Other wise I'm sure I wouldn't be here chaseing the 'skis today. Anyways it's good to talk w/ someone from the Brew City!

You don't know cold, we have been in the minus 30s for days on end. It so damn cold you let the truck run 10 minutes before leaving and the cab is just warm but not hot yet. You need to drive 5 miles before it lets out hot air.

No matter how well you dress the 20 MPH winds will freeze you in seconds.

ESOX MANIAC, You have the right attitude! The days are getting longer, ground hog day is a week away, then the OPENER!....(only 16 weeks give or take). Time to start organizing and buying stuff.

Mav,

I don't remember any Bud Girls being in the boat with us at the Cave, but if you can get them to come it's OK with me. I would really like to try out those soft lures. I guess you must be talking about a tube. They're supposed to be hot this year.
