Location: Grinnell, Iowa | You're not just paying for the gas at the pump, you are also paying for the road tax and any other taxes that particular state has roled into it.

Posts: 410 Location: one foot over the line | pretty sad when folks start thinkin that low $3.00 gas is inexpensive. gov't has a way of making people thankful to pay that and at the same time point out the evil profits of the oil company when the truth is that the gov't makes more money off of gas than anyone else.

Posts: 199 Location: Nebraska | Just got back from a week's vacation in Sweden. We drove around for 1800 km enjoying the scenery. Gas was $8.70/gallon.

Posts: 661 Location: Roscoe IL | Filled up the Tahoe this morning, all packed and ready to get in line heading North for the Holiday tomorrow night. Paid $93.76 for the tank of gas. Will need to do this two more times for this weeks fishing adventures in the Northwoods. Add boat gas, and expenses for just gas will push $350. Could be way worse.. Have a safe holiday!

Posts: 1265 Location: E. Tenn | In a couple of months I'll be loading up, and dragging all the stuff, and the boat 1000 mi. each way. If I take it easy on the accelerator, I can do it on $475. Being in a big hurry to get there, and waiting til the last minute to get home more like $550. Heck, I spent that on my last tackle shopping spree... and it's a two week trip.. Posts: 1106 Location: Muskegon Michigan | Johnnie - 6/26/2013 2:42 PM Had to downsize! That is actually just a bit smaller then we have. The Chevy Aveo is just few feet longer and the 1448 Jon is a bit longer too. However it has way more room for tackle and such. Like I said before, we get 28 to 30 mpg pulling the boat at 50 to 60 mph. For those who think it would wreck the car? We bought the Aveo new in 2004 and have 97,000 miles on it now. It has pulled the boat for over half of those miles. It is a 5 speed stick. I do not think the automatic would have held up. Other then standard maintenance we have had zero problems with the rig going on 9 years now. W e even hit deer with it while towing the boat in Indiana. Still going strong. Mike
