| Have not seen a musky since last Aug. on Lac Seul. Fished hard late may June, ),nothing, nada, I have been at this game since 1967 with 319 in my musky log book. Just can't seem to get anything going lately.
Any suggestions, rabbits foot, not shaving, anything. There must be a way to shake this.

Tried not shaving, shaving, new hats, old hats, new baits, old baits, new spots, old spots, new lures, old lures, new techniques, old techniques, etc., etc. Haven't boated one yet this year either. But having more fun fishing this year than I've had in the last several. They will come when it is time. |

Location: New Berlin,Wisconsin,53151 | Don't worry be happy! My buddy has had his new boat for 2 months now and hasn't put a fish in it yet. Things will change you don't have to try any witch doctor stuff or not change clothing until you catch one. Just keep going out there and cast 1,000 or 10,000 times, I'm not sure of the ratio?

Location: Maine Township, MN | Mudpuppy, any advice on Lac Seul? I head up the week after Labor Day to Mahkwa Lodge with a group. Some of the guys have been going up for some time now. Have gotten into some huge pike, but no muskies... Are we just in the wrong area??? |

| Its huge as you know. Stick to the east end, anytime you find current, fish it hard. Weed beds are a must. Some days 2-3 ft. water are the ticket. Rock bars and humps always merit a few casts. Top water time for sure when you are going. We will be there the last week of Aug. just for the top water action that time of year.
My biggest last year 47 ", but saw some real brutes were missed and seen, Awesome place to fish.

Location: Minnesota: where it's tough to be a sportsfan! | Humor the smell factor, wash the paws add scent to the hands & lure.In other words eliminate that part of it. Then take your favorite bait, and work it "like you used to" not like is comfortable. Remember the burn you used to get...notice how you never feel it anymore? I am only guessing but I know from myself I do not fish even a fraction as hard as I used to. I have to push myself to get back into the game. Motivation, concentration, confidence= add in the presentations you know work, locations you know they are, and post your success story. Oh and sharpen those rusty hooks!! Ha Ha |

| I've had a tournament slump that often finds me in the drugstore aisles looking at the lowest price bottles of sleeping pills. But seriously, I had a long discussion in the boat with my partner yesterday morning and I believe you just have to flip enough coins to get your share of heads and tails. Sure, you can't be sitting in the boat digging in your bait box all day, fishing dead water, stubbornly clinging to bad baits or ideas that those who are catching fish are not doing....in other words being dumb about it. But......if you keep a good bait moving through good water, maintain the basic fundamentals, and keep on doing it...you will get your share of the fish that the odds say you will get. You just can't quit. It might mean that one day you will catch a dozen fifties while your boat partners smell of skunk, but it will happen. |

Location: Minnesota | The only cure for an incurable slump is to do the No Pants Muskie Dance at the exact halfway point between moon overhead and moon underfoot*, which means the real moon will be in line with your moon, thereby creating an irresistable feeding window.
It must be done while you're in the boat with your line in the water (by that, I mean your actual fishing line). The best lures to have on the end of your line while doing the No Pants Muskie Dance are a Tallywhacker, a Big Wood crankbait, or a Whopper Plopper.
If the DNR approaches you, just explain your situation and they'll usually be understanding. Just make sure you're not near any public beaches at the time.

| Me too, I'm a BIG believer in Karma (and in Believers matter of fact, but that's beside the point) Perform random acts of kindness, pick up some trash at the launch, etc....for example I tossed a cig over the boat last trip out, brain fart, always dispose in a water bottle, BAD MOJO, and it was evident. The musky gods will take note!! |

| When my grandpa used to out fish me he would always tell me I must be holding my mouth wrong. Can just picture 8 year old me focusing on how he was holding his mouth so I could catch some fish. |
