Location: Central WI | It'll wear the main/pinion gears out burning 8's with a 6500. The gears are easy to replace at the end of the year, but I think there are better reels to use. |

Location: West of the metro, MN | I've pulled 10's and 13's with my C3. And my C3 is almost 10 years old as one of my backup reels, it has needed some work now and then but it keeps going. |

Location: Northern Illinois | It will definitely pull them as I did it when I was just getting started with bigger baits etc. However, I think the reel may quickly lose its smoothness due to gear and other wear. I don't think all double 8's are created equal though and some of the easier pulling ones are probably within its limits.
For me, it just more fun and I feel more confident controlling smaller bucktails and twitch baits with a nice tight/smooth reel. Now I have a Toro for the bigger blades and heavier lures and save my C3 and C4 for bucktails like Mepps/Ghostails etc. and lures that are generally less than 2 oz. |

Location: Kronenwetter, WI | Longevity of a reel has alot to do with how hard you work her, I have found. Some guys fish 1 day a week and will get good long service from about any of their reels. Those that fish alot more find that specialized reels for specific applications pay for themselves over the long haul. |

| From my experience, the C3 will pull just about anything, but it's a lower gear (lower retrieve). C4 has a faster retrieve, but has trouble pulling anything with much resistance in the water. |

No, not necessarily. (In fact, they often pull harder.)
8's on your c3 will be fine. A Tranx pulls 8's better. So do other reels. (That's really all the guys are gonna continue on about now. But your c3 will get the job done just fine. And, if you happen to get your bait in front of a fish it will land it just fine too.) |
