| Thinking of running up to fish Pewaukee in a few weekends - perhaps 6/22 - 6/23. Anyone know what current weed growth is? Will water ski / jet ski traffic be unbearable at that time of year a few weeks becore the 4th? Thanks. |

| Weekends on Pewaukee are a zoo. Fish early or fish late.
Weeds are very, very high and there is a nasty sort of green algae/slime bloom in the lake right now.
Most of the east end has weeds to the surface and is nearly unfishable.
Water was 67-68 degrees out there on Saturday.

| Sounds delightful and very similar to the Fox Chain in IL. Any other suggestions for a lake in the area which may have less pleasure boat traffic? Or, is that just wishful thinking? |

| Well, all of our lakes can be busy. But I think that Oconomowoc is less busy just because launching in the river can be a little bit of a pain. Nice lake too. Very clear and it grows big fish. Fowler has muskies and is quite small, that should be okay.
But yah, a lot of it is wishful thinking! There is just a lot of pressure on these lakes during the weekend. Unless you find a weekend when the weather isn't so good. |

| I have never fished Oconowoc. Any tips re: the river launch? Ive heard it can be tricky. Thanks very much. I appreciate it. |

Location: Germantown, WI | My #1 tip for fishing Oconomowoc would be to trim you motor way up going both ways on the river. The second bend is particularly shallow. Depending on how much water is running you may tear up your prop if you don't have it trimmed up, especially when traveling upstream. Oconomowoc is a nice lake. If the muskies aren't biting, give the Bass a try. It's a good lake for both Smallmouth and Largemouth. |
