The Muskie Country Tournament Circuit™ (MCTC™) will be hosting two qualifying tournaments on the first weekend of June with a Butternut Lake event on Saturday, June 1st and a Phillips Chain tourney on Sunday, June 2nd. Both of the events will mark the thirteenth year in a row that the WMT Series™ has hosted a qualifying tournament on each lake. It has been abundantly clear why the WMT Series™ has returned every year to these Price County bodies of water. They are world class muskie fisheries known not only by local anglers, but in the case of Butternut Lake is known world-wide in “muskie circles” where much has been written about Butternut Lake’s ability to produce numbers of muskies and its trophy potential. But in the case of the Phillips Chain, word of mouth has propelled the chain’s deserved reputation, benefitting those fortunate muskie anglers who heed the call to chase muskies on the Phillips Chain, rewarding most.

The tournaments will start at 6:00am and finish up at 3:00pm. The cost to compete in a Muskie Country™ tournament is $330 per team for each event. Both the Butternut Lake and Phillips Chain tournaments are scheduled to pay down five places with a first place prize equaling $10,000.00 with a full field of participants. Not only will the Butternut and Phillips Chain competitors be competing to take home the first place bragging rights, but also they will be angling to rack up points to qualify WMT Series™ Invitational Championship™. The very prestigious Invitational Championship™ has set records for the last three years with the highest cash pay-outs for a muskie tournament circuit championship with last year’s top prize of $50,000.00 and a purse of over $70,000.00. This year could see that record falling again for the fourth straight year at $80,000.00 for first place with a purse of $140,000.00.

Both the Butternut Lake and Phillips Chain of Lakes still have open spots and there is still time to send in your entries to get an earlier starting position. We will also be accepting entries for either event the Friday before the tournaments at the Great Northern Pines Resort (on the east shores of Butternut Lake) on Lake Shore Drive from 5:30pm to 7:30pm. There will also be an opportunity to enter into the Phillips Chain of Lakes event on Saturday, June 2nd at the Harbor View Pub & Grill from 5:30 pm to 6:00 pm.

All WMT Series™ events are open to the public and we hope you will join in on the fun and excitement. For additional information, log on to our web sites at www.WMTSeries.com or www.ProfessionalMuskieAnglerCircuit.com for more details or email us at [email protected] or call 715-277-4411.
