What kind of things can you or have you learned from keeping your own fishing log?

muskyhunter magazine has an article by one of the best in current issue concerning such, "What went right"... Heiting doesn't brag, a thinking fisherman , just catches lotsa big girls... If I had the bucks I'd try to fish with him at his school in Canada...

I learn when muskies on a particular lake start to turn on. Sometimes I get a great common weather pattern going for fish activity as well.

Logs will inform you of when, how, and under what conditions your successes and not so successful trips went down. Patterns will emerge if you keep detailed information for a long enough period of time. With today's information available online, cross referencing to weather conditions, moon phase, and more is easy.

I think the largest advantage of beginning to keep a log it it forces you to pay attention to the details.

Just started getting into the gopro filming for casting and already see it helping. I keep notes ony phone with everything and now video follows, strikes, fish boated etc. Hopefully it helps me out a lot this year. New to this forum and looks like a good place to be!
