How'd everybody do on opening weekend in Northern Wisconsin? What's working/what's not?

Only managed to fish for about 15 minutes but landed a 30 incher off the dock on the fifth cast. After that is was back to the myriad of tasks and errands that needed to get done. I'll be back at it tomorrow.

Fished Muskies for about an hour and a half yesterday, fourth cast had a low 40's fish chase a Top raider, thought , heck, HERE we go...nada for the rest of the evening. Was nice tossing Muskie lures again. May get out this evening, and definitely will tomorrow.

My trolling motor burned up a half hour into my day yesterday.
Ended up with a smallmouth and something pounded my Medussa .

Slow weekend for me as well. Hopefully tommorow is better. Not even moving fish, could use a change of wind. Pretty disappointing overall

Had 4 on Saturday morning. Nothing big, everything before the sun came up. Simply zero'd in on a few spots that hold fish regardless of the time of season and fan casted the heck out of them instead of doing extended drifts.

My son and I each got one sat. I got 3 yesterday. Lost one and had several other follows. Three out of four were in the 8 for me. 37half is biggest so far. Theyre coming in late and low just nipping.

We had 2 on Saturday and one on Sunday morning. Fish were really moving on Saturday; not so much on Sunday.

Smallie fishing was too good not to do it ... many, many fish caught and it was rare to find anything smaller than 18.5" ... caught a notable 19.5" that was shaped like a pizza on a lake i didn't expect a big one. longest for the week - 20". looks like a couple weeks left for targeting giant pre-spawn smallies in the area, so plan to stick with it through the end of the week.

caught 2 incidental muskies and brought a good one to the boat for a nice look.

great weekend and weekend of fishing!!

I had a great weekend fishing with my son.
He caught a 35"er and we boated 6 undersized, and saw an incredible number of follows in a couple of Northern Michigan lakes.
It couldn't have been better!

Great weather and company but the fish weren't there......trolled Sturgeon Bay and casted only saw a couple of smallies. Where's the beef? 53 deg water temp but no fish not even a hammer handle pike.

I had a ton of follows all weekend. I landed one, and missed a few others. Majority of the follows, the boated fish, and the missed fish came on a 10" fire tiger Suick.

Boated 6 lost and saw many others. Fish are out there. Cant catch 'em if your line isn't wet. Hit the water and start pounding.

Hayward opener was pretty slow for most of the people I talked to (guides included). My clients boated 7 and missed a couple (one was a dandy) on Saturday and Sunday. First 2-3 days of the season was a dawg bite and then the pattern switched over to a blade bite up until that cold front yesterday which shut things down a bit. We've had 17 fish in the boat this year and 38 was the biggest. The big girls have been tough to come by so far.
