Location: Minnesota | I got a wild hair and I want to try using some spoon plugs this summer. The only problem is that I don't know the first thing about them.
What do I need to know about spoon plugging? |

Get a hold of Jerry borst. He sometimes posts on this site. he is the best spoon plugger in the Midwest, maybe the country. He is like a bird. He migrates to many lakes, and pretty much figures them out in a day or less. maybe you can get him to your favorite lake. I believe he holds schools, OR guides, and can show you some really good tricks to spoon plugging success. I'm just glad he does'nt fish pewaukee anymore, more for me...LOL JD |

Location: Yahara River Chain | Replace the hooks and split rings before you spoonplug for muskies. That tackle is too weak for muskies. |

Josh was the one who got me interested in them. I heard him mention them in a seminar at the muskie expo, but I had no clue what they were otherwise I would have picked his brain at the show.
I'll either ask him when I see him in the bait shop, or I might just book a trip with him. |

| Put out 50' of line and troll fast enough that your rod tip vibrates at a good pace (2 mph) ,,,,, the spoonplug will go down about 15 feet ,,,, then you can experiment with varios line lengths to determine achieved depths ,,,, put the rods in rod holders ,,,, use the biggest spoonplug ,, the perch color pattern is good ,, replace the hooks and split rings for sure ,,,, I have my best luck trolling the primary drop-off (20' depth on my lakes) ------- <*)}}}}}}}}}><{{ ------- jimjimjim |
