Be advised Minocqua north of the island is going to be a cluster-phluck ... a construction project started about a month ago and will continue through the Holiday weekend making a bad traffic area even worse. construction narrows the road at Kurt's Island Sports to about McDonalds with a 12" max. trailering a boat is ok through the zone but the road is completely torn up with new storm sewers, curbs, gutters etc... being installed.

if traveling north of Minocqua you would get there (or return from there) faster by taking Hwy 8 East to Rhinelander and then 47 North into Woodruff.

this weekend is gonna be a mess ...

a few more avoidance options if you don't already know them are to cut over to 47 from 51 on K, D or Mid-Lake Road (just before the bridge). K is a bit of a jaunt and spills you out on the northwest side of rhinelander, D drops you south of Lake Tom and Mid-Lake just south of Woodruff.

so, as an example, it would still be easy to come in to The Musky Shop and then either come back 2 miles across D or just continue and take a right on Mid-Lake Road just after Sedlaks Chevrolet but once you cross the bridge get ready to sit and wait.
