Can anyone recommend a pair of Costa Del Mar sunglasses that are bright? I have a pair of Oakley polarized lenses that are fantastic for taking the glare off the water, but are very dark. I have enough problems seeing in the dark, so when it's anything less than mostly sunny, I have trouble using them. I took a look at Costa and they have a million different styles and lenses. Any suggestions?

Look for the Copper or Amber base. This can be found in both the Green and Silver Mirro Glasses...They both work awesome for Musky fishing during normal daylight conditions that dictate the need of glasses. I use the Silver mirror only becasue that was what my place had when I got them. I think they work interchangeably well.

I agree with the copper based lens. I did a ton of research a few years ago before buying the 580 glass/copper based/green mirror. The copper based really makes greens and reds stand out. I have sensitive eyes and I can wear these in sunshine, overcast, and dusk with no problem. I had a pair of amber Ocean Waves and did not care for the way everything looked yellow and they were too bright for me when it was sunny.

I am on a pair of costas now for a while in the 580g green mirror with the copper amber base. its kind of incredible how much better they are over my old gray lens ray bans. I work at a resort all summer and I am in and out of cabins and the lodge all day for 30 seconds or whatever and dont always want to be taking off my sunglasses, so i chose them that I can see well enough in the shade or inside as well as be comfortable in bright sun, and they definitely fit the bill really well. highly recommended

I have the 580G copper lens, and they are awesome, you can where from predawn til after dusk and still improve visibility. Great in high and low light.

Ha ha buddy. I'll never toss the Oakley's. They have sentimental value. Thanks for the feedback guys.

Green mirror/Amber base are good, but you still won't be able to see much before sunrise/after sunset/on dark cloudy days.

I comared the green mirror, the silver mirror and the copper yesterday at the store and the copper is definitely brighter. I'm leaning towards the copper since my low-light vision sucks. My buddy also has the copper and swears by them.

I remember reading a post awhile back that Sondag felt the mirrored lenses cost him some fish in the eight. Has made me very cautious in dropping the $250 for mirrored lenses to only have them sit on the sidelines. Maybe sondag will chime in.

Question for all of you guys with the green glass mirror lenses. I'm about to pull the trigger on a pair of these but notice that some of you specify a particular base. So, is there more than one kind of base to the green glass mirror lens? I don't see any options for the base on the sites I visit, even Costa's site..

The details on the lenses can be found on their website by selecting "Perform" then "Lenses".
The green mirror is a copper and amber base.

I tossed my oakleys for my costas. I lov my ambler but since you are from Jersey a blue mirror costas for when you fish offshore. Amber or green inshore and lakes.

I currently have the Costa permits in both copper and green mirror 580 glass. I tend to wear the copper more than the green mirror. While I wear the copper, my brother always wears the green mirror and he loves them. Personal preference I guess. Both are "bright"

I beleive the green mirror is the option you dont get to choose the base. Green mirror is awesome I see way more follows and out farther.

I've got the blue mirror/gray base and the green mirror/amber base. The blue mirrors are my daily sunglasses, and for saltwater/gulf/lake Michican/etc fishing. They work fine for sunny days, but they are no match for the green mirror for clouds/early/late. The only time I've had trouble seeing into the water with the green mirror/amber base lens are dark rainy days, before sunrise, and the hour or so after the sun goes down. I've been kicking around the idea of a third pair, just something polarized with little or no tint, but it seems like a lot of money to spend for the few hours of fishing on either end of the day.

Never tried it fishing but i know alot of guys that will ride with a yellow lens at night... I did. It brightens things up alot. If i recall from school your eye sees best through a yellow lense.

I just got a pair of the sunrise 580P lenses last week. I was able to try them out on an overcast day and was impressed with them, I wore them long after the sun went down. They really make your line stand out in the water making it easier to track/see your bait a ways out. I also have a pair of Amber 580G and Grey 580P, the Amber are a far better fishing lense then the grey the only draw back to the glass lenses is the weight.
