| Gents,
I am on a local committee and have been asked to help with our annual fundraising banquet, specifically the fishing raffle. That said, i am looking for ideas for the raffle. We typically invest roughly $4-700 on the raffle items and are always trying to get the bang for our buck.
I have helped with this in years past and have sold tickets the night of our event. I hear a lot of, "already got that stuff..." type rhetoric. I am looking for some input from you guys on what you would like to see on a raffle. We typically try to setup for multi-species we have had better success.
If anybody has any experience or ideas that have performed well in the past for fundraisers or the like please don't be shy.
Money goes to a good cause, thanks in advance.

| If it's a fishing raffle, keep it that - FISHING. Part of the problem with lures/etc. in raffles is it's either all the stuff we already have, or whoever's stuff you can get that is willing to donate a lot of stuff. That's great if it's popular colors of popular lures, but from what I've seen, that's not the stuff that gets donated. If people are going to shell out major $$$ for raffle tickets or a silent auction, it's got to be because they see something on the list and say "I want THAT!!" Higher end reels, custom rods, guide trips with big name guides... It's the stuff you can't get everywhere that's huge. Custom lures, custom rods.... What I've never understood is why there are never raffle items like trolling motor batteries. Half your club has batteries in their boat that are on their way out. And why are there never Minn Kota foot pedals? How many guys would bid on those? Gift certificates from Cabelas, or Rollie and Helens, gift certificates for a free winterizing from your local marina, a month's free boat storage...
You have to find the stuff that everyone wants. If you look at it, and you think "nah. Got that already." So will everyone else. |
