I Have an open face Penn spinner with $25 of 15lb Seaguar and it got twisted during the spooling process tonight. Any easy fix before i try to cast and have a bigger problem?

Put the boat in gear and let out most of the line without anything tied to the end. Still idling, reel it back on. The drag from the water will take the twist out.

Can it be fixed another way? Wanted to make casts from shore. Swivel and a tree perhaps?

Find an open space to pull off 150' of line and wind it back on under pressure. Pull that 150' off again, before winding it back on stretch it, then wind it back on. This should take all of the twist out of the first 150' and stretching it will take any memory out of it making it nice and limp.

How did you spool the line on? Did you lay the spool flat on the floor? Next time, place the spool on the floor (normally with the logo facing up) and then do a few cranks and if the line starts twisting, flip the spool over. This should lay the line on the way it was on the spool - without any twist.

I used to spool spinning reels with a pencil though the center of the feeder spool, but that not the best way. That way would only work if you have the reel spool off the reel and lay on the line the same way it comes off the feeder spool (like at the bait store).

Yeah, I laid the flat on the floor and screwed up. Everytime I get in a rush I make a mistake, I realized my error too far into the spooling process to stop and figured I could fix it. Figured best ask questions here before I start.

You can boil a cup of water and place the spool in it, then leave it to cool, it takes most of the internal stress of the line.

But it would still be better to pull all the line in the water after a boat without a lure on it.
