I'm looking for a switchbox for a 1985 50hp Merc. I haven't been able to track down a new one and the local dealer recommended finding a place that sells used parts. I found a place with used parts and left a message but haven't heard back yet so I figured I'd see if anyone around here might know of a place to check out. Thanks in advance for any help!!

did you check ebay? I got the entire ignition system for my 75hp mariner for $100.

Tim's might have it, but I think TC outboard in Shakopee will be your best bet.

Thanks everyone, I'll check out those places tomorrow! I was thinking about trying eBay, but was a little weirded out about ordering used electrical components that I can't test in person before buying. After finding that switchbox I'm going to move onto finding a power tilt/trim...if they even make one that's somewhat affordable for that motor. I'm pumped to finish this refurb of the boat but I've gotta stop adding things as I go.

You might want to look at aftermarket before buying a used one. It is fairly common for theese to go bad and buying a used one is a crap shoot on how long it will last. Sierra, Mallor and CDI should all make aftermarkets for your motor.
