I am running an 1198c and an 1158c networked with an Ethernet port and also have a terrova with ipilot link networked. Yesterday I started having trouble with my depth reading on my 1198c. Have never lost the depth reading in the past. Part of the time it would work fine, but several times throughout they day the depth went to 2.2 feet and stuck there for quite a while. The map side was working fine. Also, when I rebooted the 1198 it would start working for a while, but would then go back to 2.2 feet and stick there. It seemed to do it both in deep and shallow water. Any ideas about what would cause this?

Transducer failing? Connection at head end? Reseat the connector. Look at the pins for corrosion.

Does the 1198 share depth with the other? Or vice versa? Un-network them and see if it does the same thing?

I had same problem with my 898 and called hummingbird. They told me to update software. After that it worked great. But mine did not work from start. I think they have self check system on it. Where you might be able to narrow down problem. Hope this helps.
Good luck
