Location: Eastern Ontario

Without making video editing another hobby how do I extract good stills from video, Go Pro and android phone? (windows computer) Nothing so complicated that it makes my head hurt I hope.

Easy way to do it is just take a screenshot(Printscreen) then cut/crop/select the exact part of the picture you want. Of course it won't be great quality if you want a bigger sized picture, but for smaller pictures it works good. Then paste it into paint and save the file.

Or if you upload your HD footage to youtube and play it in 720p or 1080p you can get a better quality still when you print screen. Or using a editing program that lets you review the footage in HD. A screenshot from these sources will give better quality stills.

At the bottom of the linked page above it will explain how to paste the print screened still image into Microsoft paint and allow you to save it for future use, just click the blue text labeled To paste a screen capture into a paint file.

You could download the vlc player , has a button for taking screen shots.

You are basically taking a frame from a video and using it as an image. Most editing programs have a 'save as image' icon. Select the frame you like, determine where you want the image saved and click on the icon, usually looks like a camera. Here's an example. The camera icon is just below the video frame in the screen shot, upper right, and the image saved is attached as well; re-sized for the web.
