So I just started hitting this hard last year, and so I have 3 rods in my arsenal and am looking to add a forth. This is what I own:

8' 6" Okuma xxh that is supposed to be 4-16 oz (im scared to death to throw pounders with it) I broke 2 of these throwing medussa's last year- Which okuma replace. I have a Abu 7000 on it.
**This has been my go-to rod, as 10's and 8's were my go-to baits last year.

7' 6" St Croix premier Hf that is 2-6 oz and is wearing a Cardiff
** Used this for Jerk baits, and top water

6' 6" Gander something or another, with a Abu 6500
**this was just a cheap back up, and I liked throwing small topwaters, and hellhounds with.

So my dilemma is how to pick my next rod. I am pretty sure I want a TI 9' XXH for heavy rubber, but would want to be able to throw blades with it as well. So I dont know what Reel I would go with. I was thinking Toro, but reading about not wanting to throw pounders with it may have just changed my mind.

I know it would depend on your style of fishing, but what would your next rod be, and more importantly Reel if you had the above already in your arsenal?

Can't go wrong with a TI rod. I throw double blades with my xxh TI rod and it works fine

What reel do you have on it? AS mentioned, I think this would be a rubber/blades rod.

St. Croix big nasty and a 400d! If you want to throw mostly pounders go with the big dawg.

I prefer my 9'xxh ti to burn blades in over my 9' xh ti because I am not fighting the rod while I am burning. I also throw mags and pounders with it. I have that paired with a tranx hg with a ljv handle.

The Okuma XH EVX 9'3" rod is rated 4-16 and throws Pounders quite well. Will also handle blades although it doesn't load them up as well.

If money is no object, Tranx HG is the reel for that combo. If that is out of budget, I'd suggest a Saltist or Torium. You'll get solid speed for blades, plus enough beef to handle the rubber.

I have put my TI XXH through the paces. No issues, handles fish well, and good hvy bait control. Excellent rod.

Sounds like you want a big bait rod on a budget.

The TI XXH paired with a Saltist 20 Levelwind would be perfect. They are tough pieces of equipment and handle the big stuff just fine, also won't cost you and arm and/or a leg.

sell everything you got and get a big nasty with either a d or a b if you want to save some money. throw everything in your box with it.

I throw pounders and bucktails on the TI xxh no problem. I have it paired with a Saltist 30HA. Very good setup on a budget.

x2 - or try to find a used TE with a power handle. One perfect all around setup.

you have a good start. look in to a custom rod like Thorn Bros. Predator 9 footer and a shimano tranx pg. that would be a great combo
