Do Muskies see in color , I was talking to an older feller last night he has caught over 1500 Muskie in the state of Ohio, really knows his stuff, he said muskies do NOT see in color they only see black they go strictly by noise, vibrations, sounds waves, thumps, the color only catches the fisherman eyes. What do you think ?

When color is available, they can see it if the vision cycle is reverted to cones at the time. At night, if additional light is added, they can't, rod vision changes over from cone vision on a 'clock' basis every evening, and back to cones every morning.

Interesting what that can mean as the days get shorter in the Fall, but light has to be penetrating the water column or it's a moot point.

Firetiger do well in dark water while natural color as perch or walleye do well in clear water. People do catch musky on firetiger in clear water. Black is number one catch musky don't mean its best color but most people use black. I believe that musky can see is something, shape, sounds and size.

There is a book on what fish see.It is very informative and I used it a lot when I did custom work. Show also what colors stand out at different depths.
